Island peak, locally called Imja Tse is one of the most phenomenal expeditions in the Everest Region. At a height of 6,173 meters, Island Peak offers climbers the chance to get close-up views of numerous higher peaks, including Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku, and others. This expedition also covers the whole of Everest Base Camp trek, which gives the climbers a sense of inspiration to complete the renowned Island Peak. This isolated and less climbed peak in the Everest region is a best choice for the adventurers who want to make it up to the summit of mountains once in their lifetime. Compared to other higher peaks in Nepal this expedition is slightly easier, however for the inexperienced this a very challenging journey. But rest assured, because we have just the right experts and guides to make your journey safe and comfortable. Be sure to keep exercising before at least 3-4 months before the journey and stay fit.
Island Peak expedition starts with a trek preparation at Kathmandu. We take a short flight to Lukla and our expedition officially kicks off. Passing through many remote villages like Phakding, Namche Bazaar, Tengboche, Pheriche and Lobuche we first explore the world-famous Everest Base Camp. After trekking back to Pheriche and onwards to Chukkung village we reach Island Peak Base Camp on 12th day of trekking. On 14th day after the trek kicks off, and the weather conditions works on our favor you’ll have officially conquered the Island Peak summit. Except from the mountains, the trek is also full of other adventures such as unique taste of local Nepalese foods, Sherpa Settlements, Cultural Sightseeing, Nepalese vegetations and a lot more.
On your arrival, you’ll be greeted by our Airport Representative. They’ll transfer you to your accommodation and brief you about the journey ahead.
Today, we visit some of the major UNESCO world heritage sights of Kathmandu. The locations of cultural and historical significance offer various opportunities to learn about items with Nepalese origins. Be sure to learn everything you can from your guides by asking them as many questions as you can. Trek briefing and preparation time for the evening.
Transfer to the domestic airport in the morning. You take a quick flight to the airport in Lukla and then climb toward Phakding. Today’s trek will be short, i.e. around 3-4 hours. Spend the night in a local teahouse.
After morning breakfast, we begin the hike towards Namche. Also known as the “getaway to Everest” this place provides you with some of the facilities like internet and banking that you might not be getting in the destinations ahead. Spend the night in Namche in a local lodge.
As a standard procedure, we’ll be taking a rest day and acclimatize our body with the altitude. Go for a quick trek to one of the nearby sites to take in the mountain scenery. Take a stroll around the streets of Namche in the evening. Spend the night in Namche.
After morning breakfast, we head towards Tengboche. The Himalayas’ most calm beauty will keep the adrenaline going as you hike through their tough terrain, little slopes, and hillocks. One of the main stops along the way is Tengboche Monastery, which you can also visit. Spend the night in a local teahouse.
Today, we head onwards to the next village. Enjoying phenomenal mountain views and jungle walks, we reach a historical remote settlement of Pheriche. It takes around 4 to 5 hours of trek from Tengboche to reach Pheriche village. Spend the night at a local lodge.
After breakfast we hike towards Kalapatthar (5,550m), meaning “Black Rock”, this viewpoint provides the best and unobstructed view of the entire range of peaks, including the Khumbu glacier and Icefall, the biggest in Nepal, as well as the Pumori (7,161m), Lingtren, Everest (8,848m), Nuptse (7,861m), Amadablam (6,812m), Khantega, and Taboche peaks. We head towards Periche to spend our night.
We are finally near to the expedition. Passing through many obstacles and unpaved small roads, move onwards to the Chhukung village. Today’s trek will be of around 3 hours. Finally, we rest for the day at a local lodge at Chukkung.
On our 12th day of trek, we finally commence toward the peak. After 4 to 5 hours of walking we reach the Island Peak Base camp (5150 m). We rest for the day enjoying the phenomenal views. The experts with you will brief you about the journey ahead in the evening.
Its time to commence toward the High camp. The trek gets tougher as we gain altitude, so we take it slow and steady. If the weather is clear the mountainous views will get even more heavenly. Spend the night at a tent in High Camp.
Finally, after our long journey we reach the summit of infamous Island Peak. Situated at 6173 m from the sea level, Island peak provides mesmerizing views of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Ama Dablam, Thamserku and many other mighty mountains. We head back to the base camp after enjoying the views.
Early morning, we head back to Pangboche village. Walking through snowcapped roads, the scenic views along the way will keep entertaining you. Spend the night at Pangboche.
After morning breakfast, we descend towards Namche. Enjoy the facilities of internet, warm water and local restaurants. You can also shop for souvenirs to take back home in local shops. Spend the night in Namche Bazaar.
Today is the last day of our Island Peak Expedition, and we will return to Lukla. Due to its landscape, Lukla airport is also considered as one of the most fascinating airports in the world. Stay in Lukla for the night.
Finally, after long days of hike we’ll take a short flight back to Kathmandu via Lukla airport. You’ll be transferred to your accommodation via a private vehicle. You’ll have the rest of the day free for packing or strolling through the streets of Kathmandu. Stay the night at the hotel of your preference.
Today, you’ve got a free day. You can rest at the hotel or visit some cultural heritage sites around. In the evening, we’ll organize a farewell dinner for you. Spend the night at your hotel.
At last the trip comes to an end. We’ll drop you at the airport 3 hours prior to your flight. Hope the journey was fruitful and you’ve created the memories of a lifetime. We’ll meet up when you return to this quaint, stunning, and wonder-filled nation. Farewell.
